Filming for this episode took place concurrently with the previous episode, Jack Of All Trades, from January, 16 1989 thru January 23, 1989.

The episode starts out in a seedy looking area under a bridge. An open air market for drugs and more. Here we see a kidnapping. This was filmed under the 12th Avenue bridge which runs north/south over the Miami River. The bridge has since been replaced with a new bigger bridge. We will see this exact location again in episode 106, Victims of Circumstance.

Then we cut to the inside of a bookstore where we see a book signing party. This was filmed at Books and Books, 296 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables FL.

Then we see the standard season 5 opening montage.

Act 1 opens inside the OCB. Filmed on set inside Stage A at Greenwich Studios.

Next we see Tubbs waiting and getting picked up by boat on the Miami River. This was filmed at 1201 NW South River Drive, Miami.

Then we see Tubbs arrive with Gay at Manning’s bay side residence. This was filmed on location at 3570 Battersea Road in Coral Gables.

Then we see them go from a bright modern interior with tiled flooring to a much darker interior with painted concrete floors, confirming that they have now switched locations. They have gone from the modern interior of 3570 Battersea Road to the interior stage of Greenwich Studios.

Manning ask Tubbs to look at some video on 4 televisions. Surprisingly, the third one (lower Left) is footage from the Miami Vice episode, Little Miss Dangerous. That was filmed inside Sex World aka Jerry’s Famous Deli/ Hoffman’s Coffee Shop.

Tubbs is put in a cell. Also filmed on set inside Greenwich Studios.

Then we see an exterior establishing shot of the OCB. Rare for season 5. This is re-used footage originally seen in episode 26, The Dutch Oven. There, it was the 15th version of footage of the exterior of the OCB that we see in the series. Here we see a slightly shorter version. We have previously seen it re-used in Down For The Count Part 2, Red Tape, and Line of Fire.

Then we go inside. Filmed on set inside Stage A of Greenwich Studios.

Then we return to Manning’s place. First seeing an exterior establishing shot of 3570 Battersea Road, Coral Gables.

Then we go inside, filmed on set inside Greenwich Studios.

Next we see Castillo pay Phelps a visit in his editing room. This was reportedly filmed in the Sterling Building at 927 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach. The editing room was in Suite 110. I have not confirmed this location myself but it is widely reported as the location.

Then we return to the interior of Manning’s place. Filmed on set.

Then we return to the interior of the OCB. Filmed on set.

Then we see Trudy and Gina at work. They are at the front of the Sterling Building. Filmed there, on location at 927 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach.

Then back to Phelps’ editing room inside the Sterling Building. Filmed in Suite 110.

Then back to Manning’s residence. Filmed on location at 3570 Battersea Road, Coral Gables.

Then we see Phelps come down the stairs in the Sterling Building and head toward the rear of the building after seeing the all to obvious Gina and Trudy. The door he uses here was featured in the book Deco Delights.

Then through a hallway in the same complex, in the building at the rear (northside) just to the left  (west) of center. In July of 2017 when I took these re-creation shots the interior was under renovation and they werre kind enough to let me enter and photograph the interior which had been gutted for remodeling.

He exits toward the rear into the courtyard and heads slightly right along the path toward the rear. Then takes a sharp left turn.

Then he exits into the alley at the rear by Lincoln Lane North. Bumbling Gina sees him drive off. She stands on Lincoln Lane North by the little alley he came out of. There is no longer a surface lot behind the building but a large parking garage blocking the view we had in Vice. Double door has since been installed where window was at time of filming.

Gina says Phelps is headed north on 12th Avenue but he is in reality eastbound on Lincoln Lane North.

Stan is parked on Jefferson Avenue facing south, just south of Lincoln Lane North. He picks up the tail.

Then we go back to Manning’s. The first scene with Manning was filmed on location at 3570 Battersea Road, Coral Gables.

Then we see Tubbs, filmed on studio set.

Manning with Tubbs was filmed on location in the residence at 3570 Battersea Road.

Then we see Stan’s tail of Phelps end at the Miami River. This was  filmed at Merrill Stevens Yachts on the south bank of the Miami River.

Then we see Phelps arrive at the rear (bayside) of Mannings’ place. Filmed on location at 3570 Battersea Road, Coral Gables.

Then we cut back to the interior of Manning’s place, filmed on studio set.

Then back inside, filmed on set.

Then Manning lets Phelps into the residence. Filmed on location at 3570 Battersea Road.

They return to the interior (studio) where Tubbs’ quick thinking and action saves the day.

Manning attempts to flea out the back but is cut off by Castillo and Stan. Filmed on location at 3570 Battersea Road.

We see a real book, Deco Delights featured in this scene. Later in the episode we see a doorway and building featured that was featured in that book.

As seen in Victims of Circumstance

The stairs he came down. Contemporary behind the scene shot.

The hallway he ran down was where I have placed the arrow in the picture at right. Now there is a bathroom in place at what was the end of the hallway. The door he is seen exiting has been welded shut and encased in the new bathroom wall but still exist on the exterior of the building.

This building seen in the background cannot be viewed at the same angle as a parking garage now blocks the view.
