The episode starts out with an exterior establishing shot of the Miami Beach Police
Department, 1100 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach.
Then we go inside. This has every indication of having been filmed on set in Greenwich
Studios but I have not confirmed this yet. I would be very surprised if it had not
been filmed on set.
Next we see the standard season 5 opening montage.
Act 1 opens with a prison yard scene. This was filmed on set at Greenwich Studios
at the rear of Stage C.
Then we cut to a remote beach where we learn there has been a prison break. This
was filmed on location on Virginia Key north of where we saw them film in No Exit
and One Way Ticket.
Then we see a short scene of Crockett getting some doctor time. Filming location
Then we cut to Scottie’s home where he is leading a less than exciting life. Filmed
on location at 4001 Hardie Ave. Miami (Coconut Grove).
We cut back to Crockett and the Doctor, filming location unknown.
Then we cut to the trio driving on a remote road. I am 99.9% sure this was filmed
on Arthur Lamb Jr. Road, Virginia Key. Not enough is seen to confirm this 100% but
everything that is seen matches up.
Then we cut back to Crockett at the Doctors. Location unknown.
Next it is time for Crockett to take care of himself with some time off. We see him
on a never before seen motorcycle. The first shots were filmed on SW 8th Street in
the area of 172nd Avenue and continues east till Crockett is 1.05 miles east of Krome
Then we see the gang stop at Dade Corners to fuel (and money) up. Filmed on location
at Dade Corners, SE corner of the intersection of SW 177th Ave. and SW 8th Street.
Then we see Crockett motoring along. He was filmed south bound on SW 177th Ave. He
stops at the bridge just north of SW 8th Street. Then he turns westbound on SW 8th
Street. Adjacent to where they just lit up the gas station.
While there he has a few flashbacks.
Then the trio hits Doc’s house. Filmed on location across from Scottie’s residence.
Filmed at 4020 Hardie Ave, Miami (Coconut Grove).
Then we see Crockett stop in for a drink. Filmed on location at Gator Kicks. An easy
find as the sign is seen behind the bar. 15690 Tamiami Trail (SW 8th St.) Near the
intersection where we earlier saw them light up the gas station and Sonny stop on
Gator Kicks was famous for a number of things. One, is the location where the poster
shown below (featuring Donna Rice who became famous for her affair with Gary Hart
which sunk his Presidential hopes) was photographed, .
Also for its role in Smokey and The Bandit 3.
No longer exist.
Then it cuts back to the trio. The two escapees are entering a store. This was filmed
on location in the 600 block of South Miami Avenue, Miami. They arrive headed southbound
and enter 632-634 S. Miami Ave.
Crockett jacks a car and takes off westbound. It was suppose to be just after 6 in
the morning but in realty since he is heading west this was filmed at sunset not
Sonny and Kathleen round the corner onto S. Miami Ave from SW 7th Street.
Crockett easily dives thru the fake glass window at 644 S. Miami Ave.
Then back to 4001 Hardie Ave.
Goof: Supposedly thick, bullet proof glass quickly breaks after only seconds of exposure
to yellow/orange flames showing the glass to be very thin. It did not help that the
thin door to the booth was was not secured and did not even have a latch attached
to the door knob.
Miami film buffs may recognize this location as it was Gallagher’s house in Absence
